"According to Icelandic folklore, the Reynisdrangar Trolls [sea stacks] were created when two trolls were attempting to drag a three-masted ship to shore. In their haste they didn’t notice that the sun was rising. As the rays of daylight hit them, they (and the ship) were instantly turned to stone."

An electrifying long-exposure photograph of a bustling freeway at night, with the city skyline of Houston, Texas, illuminated under a soft veil of fog. The streaks of car lights in vibrant blues, reds, and whites weave through the concrete overpasses, creating a dynamic flow of energy and movement.

I love photographing this place, but it's not easy. It has to be calm and the tide has to be right, as the pools drain at low tide. And then of course there has to be northern lights...

A stunning panoramic view of the Sólheimasandur beach, featuring the iconic wreckage of the DC-3 airplane under the mesmerizing northern lights in Iceland. The ethereal glow of the aurora borealis illuminates the night sky.

DUBAI BUSINESS BAY. Judith Kuhn, Germany.

The first morning in Dubai. I only landed around midnight, then immigration control, fetching my luggage and picking up the rental car - I was at the hotel around 2 a.m. and at five the alarm clock rang again. I was able to get one picture just before the wind started and the reflection was gone.

Hidden in the French Prealps, is this magnificent double-arch geological rock formation. As night falls and the milky way appears, a bright star flies through the air, casting its glow upon great bones of the earth. A small town glows warmly in the distance, its inhabitants fast asleep.

Nobody knows when this skull formed in this cliff's 30 million year old history. Subtley carved by caeseless wind and rain, this eerie face is only visible when lit from the perfect angle.

As a moonrise burns across the horizon, lights dance above the Old Man of Storr, in Scotland.

For the first time in its 2800 million-year history, this iconic rock formation was illuminated with powerful lights attached to drones, cutting through the darkness and revealing the icy landscape.

When I was photographing the Hungarian capital, a huge storm cell passed over the city of Budapest. I managed to capture a massive lightning strike with a telephoto lens, which gave incredible detail to it.

The island of Socotra is one of the most gorgeous places in the world for astrophotography. Its dark skies are unmatched and its alien foregrounds - to die for.

La Palma island in the Canarias is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Its dark skies are amazing, but it’s the foregrounds and temperature inversions that truly make great astro-landscape images. It is especially when all flowers are in full bloom in May.
