The Melasti Ceremony is an important Hindu Balinese purification ceremony - the biggest in this religion and carried out throughout the country. In this image great numbers of people make their way down the cliff to Melasti Beach, where the ceremony will take place.

Children play among hundreds of giant hat-shaped bamboo cones in a rice field in Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh. These cones protect freshly collected, dried rice from rain and fog. Rice mill workers start at 5 am and work till 2 pm every day, after which their children play the afternoon games.

I realized there were some interesting bird interactions going on amongst the birds in my backyard, so I set out to capture some of interaction. In this image, a male Cape Sparrow is attacking a male Southern masked weaver, in order to establish domination on the branch.

Early one morning on our game drive in the park we came across three spotted hyenas walking along the road. One the hyenas was carrying the head of a Zebra presumably from a lion kill nearby walking straight toward us.

Once again a trip to the Windbuchen on the Schauinsland near Freiburg im Breisgau. I had hoped to be above the fog and catch a glimpse of color in the sky, but the foggy atmosphere also had its charm. In any case, great to experience a little winter.

While photographing the Taj Mahal during sunrise from the shorelines of the nearby Yamuna river I observed this bird of pray circling the river, before it landed on a wooden stick among some nearby farmland. On my way back I managed to align it with the hazy silhouette of India's famous landmark.
